## Overview

Wade through cold mountain water into one of Türkiye's deepest gorges, with guides, water shoes and trout lunch by the river.

Saklıkent is a narrow limestone gorge about an hour from Fethiye, with walls up to 300 metres high. The first few hundred metres are on a boardwalk; after that the path is the river itself, knee- to waist-deep and very cold even in August.

Our guides lead teams of eight to ten upstream, helping each other over boulders and through the current. Everyone wears water shoes and a helmet, and the guides decide how far each group goes based on water level and the group's pace. Most teams reach the narrows and turn back after about two hours in the water.

Afterwards we sit on wooden platforms over the river for grilled trout, salad and gözleme. The walk is a real physical effort and teams come out of it having relied on each other at every step.
