## Overview

Join the grape harvest at an Urla winery in late summer: pick in teams, help with the first pressing and finish with a long lunch among the vines.

From mid-August to late September, the wineries on the Urla vineyard route bring in their grapes. Urla is one of Türkiye's most interesting wine regions, growing local varieties such as Urla Karası and Bornova Misketi alongside international grapes.

The day starts early to avoid the heat. After a briefing from the winemaker, teams get secateurs and crates and pick a row of vines, with friendly competition on speed and clean bunches. The grapes go straight to the winery, where the group sees them sorted and destemmed and, depending on the day, tries treading grapes by foot in a traditional vat.

Lunch is served at a long table in the vineyard, with the winery's wines and dishes from local producers. Exact dates depend on the ripeness of the grapes, which the winemaker confirms about two weeks ahead.
