Cappadocia valley GPS hunt

Each team of six to eight gets a handheld GPS, a printed valley map and a list of coordinates. Caches are hidden near pigeon houses, rock-cut chapels and viewpoints along the trails between Göreme, Çavuşin and the Rose Valley, and each holds a puzzle piece, a question or a stamp for the team card.

Teams choose their own order and route, so planning matters: the shortest line on the map is not always the easiest path through the valleys. Our guides are stationed at junctions and can be called by radio, and two caches are only unlocked once a team has photographed a specific fresco or rock formation.

The hunt ends at a viewpoint over the Rose Valley with fruit, cold drinks and the final puzzle, which every team has to assemble from the pieces it has collected. Late afternoon timing means the finish coincides with the valley turning pink at sunset.
