Çeşme & Alaçatı

Germiyan is a small stone village in the hills between Çeşme and Alaçatı, known for its home cooking and a long tradition of growing mastic trees, whose resin flavours desserts, Turkish delight and coffee across the region.

A local guide leads the group along village lanes and field paths to a mastic grove, explaining how the resin is collected by scoring the bark and why the Çeşme peninsula and nearby Chios are among the few places where the trees grow. On the way you meet village women who prepare traditional dishes, and the group can join in making gözleme or stuffed vine leaves.

The walk ends with lunch in the village square or a garden, with mastic pudding and mastic coffee to finish.
